Meet Our 2025 Awardees
Project Goals
Education inside correctional facilities changes lives—if the data exists to prove it. Working alongside AlleyCorp and ENG(INE), Unlocked Labs is building the infrastructure to make that case: portable achievement records that travel with residents through transfers and into reentry, deeper data integration across the learning platforms already in use, and an insights tool that gives Departments of Corrections the evidence they need to keep investing.
"Partnering with ENG(INE) has given us the opportunity to streamline our digital tools and make transformational data visible to those who need it. Thanks to our partnership, we have built out an LMS integration between UnlockEd, our learning software, and Canvas; the Learner Record, a digital transcript for each incarcerated resident; and a standalone application that turns a correctional facility's existing resident program data into easy-to-read data visualizations. All of our work with ENG(INE) allows incarcerated learners to take up agency and point to the hard work they’re doing while inside. This can translate into time off sentences, better outcomes post-release, and evidence for systems-change advocacy.”

Project Goals
mRelief’s partnership with AlleyCorp and ENG(INE) aimed to reduce the administrative burden at the heart of SNAP enrolment. Together, we’ve built an automated document classification system that identifies and validates the supporting documents applicants submit, cutting the manual review time required from caseworkers and community navigators, and accelerating the path from application to approval for the families who need benefits most.
"From our very first meeting, we could tell that working with ENG(INE) would be a dream partnership for us. They quickly understood our needs, the complexity of our document submission process, and the importance of balancing automation with care for the people we serve. Their deep expertise in machine learning and large language models helped us make significant progress toward automating our AI document verification tool, while still protecting sensitive client data and maintaining a human-in-the-loop approach where needed. They also helped us expand our thinking about what could be possible, including stretch goals like a self-hosted model that would allow us to handle more sensitive document types securely. Their thoughtfulness, technical creativity, and genuine investment in our mission have made them an invaluable partner in helping us better serve our clients."
